How I got my first 3 customers and the steps for you to do the same.

Andrew Kingston

Chief Event Organizer

I used to work with JPMorgan in London but wanted to run my own business. I moved back to Ireland, did a masters in Electronic Business and within two years I had two businesses.

My first customer in my web development business came from a referral from my dad. He worked in a bank and a client of his was speaking to him about a scam he was caught with where he paid to get higher Google rankings. My Dad mentioned that I was completing a masters in Electronic Business at the time and was planning to set up a web development business.

The client then contacted me and we arranged to meet. I gave him some free advice to help him out at the time and very soon after he asked me to develop two new websites for him.

The Tip

To whet your beak

Word of mouth is so powerful in a service orientated business. Make sure all your friends and family know what you are doing so they can help spread the word.
